What do you do with your old appliances when you get new, shiny, energy efficient ones? Recycle them!

Many local appliances stores will haul away your old appliances when they deliver your new one, but if they don’t offer this service – or if you want to make a few bucks yourself – we recommend you look into the Energy Trust of Oregon.

“Energy Trust of Oregon is an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to helping utility customers benefit from saving energy and generating renewable power. Our services, cash incentives and solutions have helped participating customers of Portland General Electric, Pacific Power, NW Natural and Cascade Natural Gas save $1.7 billion on their energy bills. Our work helps keep energy costs as low as possible and builds a sustainable energy future.”

The Energy Trust of Oregon may pick up your old refrigerator and give you $20-$40 in cash incentive, depending on the age, just for recycling it. To schedule your fridge pick up, visit the Refrigerator and Freezer Recycling page.
